Nil Estienne: The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat

Nil Estienne was a man of many talents. He was a brilliant scientist, a skilled musician, and a devout family man. But there was one thing that Nil Estienne could not do: tell the difference between his wife and his hat.

It all started when Nil's wife, Simone, decided to get a new hat. It was a beautiful hat, a wide-brimmed straw hat with a flowing ribbon. Nil was so impressed by the hat that he couldn't take his eyes off it.

"My dear," he said to Simone, "that is the most beautiful hat I have ever seen."

Simone smiled. "Thank you, darling," she said. "I'm glad you like it."

But Nil was so enamored with the hat that he couldn't stop talking about it. He wore it around the house, he showed it to his friends, and he even took it to bed with him.

Simone was amused at first, but after a while, she started to get a little annoyed. "Darling," she said, "I'm glad you like the hat, but you need to stop wearing it all the time."

Nil was hurt. "But why, my dear?" he asked. "It's such a beautiful hat."

Simone sighed. "Because it's not a hat," she said. "It's my hat."

Nil looked at Simone in confusion. "But it's on my head," he said.

"Yes," said Simone, "but that doesn't make it yours."

Nil was still confused. "But I don't have any other hats," he said.

"Well, you can buy one," said Simone.

Nil sighed. "But I don't want any other hats," he said. "I only want this one."

Simone was at her wit's end. "Darling," she said, "you need to stop being so attached to that hat. It's just a thing."

Nil was heartbroken. "But it's not just a thing," he said. "It's my hat."

And so, Nil Estienne continued to wear his wife's hat, even though she told him not to. He wore it to the grocery store, to the library, and even to church. And everywhere he went, people would stare at him and wonder what was wrong with him.

But Nil Estienne didn't care. He was happy with his hat. And that was all that mattered.
