Notre Dame Obliterates Florida State, Hands Out Historic Loss

South Bend, Indiana - In what can only be described as an absolute slaughter, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish put on a historic performance, demolishing the Florida State Seminoles in a humiliating 52-3 loss on Saturday night.
The Irish, ranked No. 7 in the nation, wasted no time in making their intentions known. Sophomore quarterback Riley Leonard was a man on a mission, orchestrating a flawless offensive performance. He scampered for two touchdowns himself and threw for another, amassing a total of 215 yards through the air.
The Seminoles, on the other hand, looked lost and outmatched from the get-go. Their defense was porous, allowing the Irish to score at will, while their offense sputtered and failed to muster any semblance of a threat. The final score of 52-3 was Florida State's largest margin of defeat in school history.
"It was a humbling experience," Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell said after the game. "We didn't play with the heart or intensity we needed to. Credit to Notre Dame, they came out and played a complete game."
The win was Notre Dame's sixth straight, improving their record to 8-1. The Fighting Irish now have sole possession of first place in the ACC Atlantic Division and are in prime position to make a run at their first College Football Playoff berth since 2020.
For Florida State, the loss dropped them to 1-9, the worst record for a preseason top-5 team in FBS history. The Seminoles have now lost nine straight games, their longest losing streak since 1976.
"We're at a low point right now," Norvell said. "But we're going to keep fighting. We're going to figure this out."
Notre Dame's next game will be on the road against the Pittsburgh Panthers on November 16th. Florida State will host the Miami Hurricanes the same day.
