Neighborhood Sports: Ball Leads Dundee Swimmers To SMISL Championship

DUNDEE – Joslyn Ball was named Swimmer of the Meet and Sarah Eubanks acquired Coach of the Year respects as Dundee won the Southeastern Michigan Independent Swimming League Championships Saturday. 

Dundee scored 479 focuses to handily surpass second place Riverview (252). St. Mary Catholic Central was fifth with 97, Erie Mason-Ida seventh with 44 and New Boston Huron-Taylor eighth with 15. 

Joslyn Ball won the butterfly and backstroke and swam on two winning transfers. 

Other individual victors for the Vikings were Madeline Roggelin (200 free-form), Emerson Hernandez (individual mixture), Emma Schramm (jumping) and Sara Carter (breaststroke). 

Dundee won every one of the three transfers with Ball, Carter, Roggelin and Lia Parry in the mixture, Parry, Hernandez, Emma O'Connell and Ball in the 200 and O'Connell), Carter, Hernandez and Roggelin in the 400. 

SMCC's Gracie Bylow was second in the 500 free-form and seventh in the backstroke. Maya Zaleski took seventh in the 100 free-form and eighth in the 50. Other champions for the Kestrels were Alexandria Loughran, Monika Burkardt, McKenzie Kidd, Rosa Cuccia, Abagale Huff, Lauren Pride, and Katelyn Karwick. 

Audrey Hempel and Riley Jacobs had top 10 completions for Mason-Ida. 

Whitney Hertza, Sophia Wellman, Ella Feldpausch, Lily McGunagle, Olivia Feldpausch, Elyse McGunagle, Amelia Campbell and Currin Meksula drove Huron. 

CROSS COUNTRYTwo Mules qualify 

SHEPHERD – Madison Foster and Lauren Sancrant of Bedford have equipped for the Midwest Meet of Champions after their exhibitions Saturday in the Michigan Meet of Champions. 

Cultivate was second in 17:47 and Sancrant put 33rd with an individual best 18:48 in the Girls Team Elite race They will run in the Midwest Meet Saturday in Kettering, Ohio. 

Bedford's Alex Ortiz won the Boys Open Elite race with an individual best 16:16 and Bekah Asselin took 10th with an individual best 19:22.2 in the Girls Open Elite race.
