Golf-Love Says Tiger Can Have Any Role He Wants For Presidents Cup

(Reuters) - Davis Love III, who has succeeded Tiger Woods as skipper of the U.S. Group for the 2022 Presidents Cup in North Carolina, said on Tuesday his archetype can play any part on the crew he needs yet desires to see him get back from injury and make it as a player. 사설토토
Woods, who has not contended since he experienced genuine leg wounds in a February auto accident, won every one of the three of his matches at the 2019 Presidents Cup in Melbourne where he filled in as a playing skipper for the successful U.S. Group.
Love, addressing correspondents at Sea Island Resort where he is host of the current week's RSM Classic, said he had discussions regarding the Presidents Cup commander's job with Woods before the previous world number one's fender bender.
"It would have been an extraordinary captaincy for Tiger to forge ahead," Love told correspondents at Sea Island Resort.
"At the time we were talking about it, he said, 'No, I'm playing great, I will make the group, and I appreciated Australia being playing skipper, however I need to be a player in the group'.
"So his job is whatever his job needs to be. In the event that Tiger hits me up and says, 'Hello, you're kicked out, I'm assuming control over', that is Tiger's job. Assuming he needs to be an aide, you know."
Love, a 21-time champ on the PGA Tour, said it would be incredible to see Woods recover his structure on schedule for the Presidents Cup yet realizes he can offer help in alternate ways having done as such in an informal warning job at the last Ryder Cup.
"I would trust that he returns and starts playing and can make that an objective, to be in the group," said Love. "He was a major piece of our Ryder Cup. It took us some time to come to the heart of the matter where he would lock in.
"Clearly he had a harsh beginning to the year, yet when we got him on the up and up, he was a major assistance and loads of good times for the Ryder Cup and for the group."
The Presidents Cup is a biennial occasion which pits a 12-man group from the U.S. Against global players from outside Europe.
