Verbally Commits To Play Basketball For UMaine
Focal High School of Corinth's Izzy Allen, sister of Husson University champion Sydney Allen, has verbally dedicated to go to the University of Maine on a b-ball grant.
Allen, a 5-foot-10 point watch, burst onto the scene as a green bean this previous winter, averaging 18.3 focuses, 6.1 bounce back, 2.9 takes and 2.1 helps per game. She was named the Eastern Maine Sports Female Athlete of the Week twice.
She will join a sorority of later in-state players that incorporates UMaine aide mentor Parise Rossignol from Madawaska, Maddy McVicar from Calais, Sierra Tapley from Bar Harbor and current player Lexi Mittelstadt from Wilton.
Allen said she was "stunned and respected" to be offered a grant by UMaine lead trainer Amy Vachon.
"I generally needed to remain in state yet I never anticipated that this should occur. I'm truly eager to have this chance," said the 15-year-old Allen.
Focal mentor Jamie Russell said she is a unique player.
"She makes everything look easy. Everything comes so natural for her… taking care of the ball, shooting, no-look passes," Russell said. "She is a whiz."
Allen had 22 focuses, six bounce back, four takes and three aids a 52-24 success over Piscataquis Community High School of Guilford in their Penquis League North elimination round and added 23 focuses, six bounce back, two helps and two takes in a 41-30 misfortune to Dexter in the Penquis League North title game.
