Dedication, who had cleared Jersey Village in both matches last season, lost 3-1 at Jersey Village on Sept. 10.

"I thought Jersey Village played all around well," said Memorial mentor Kaddie Platt. "We played well as well. They just thought of the W. That is it basically."

Platt said the group's training the next day was amazingly serious.

In spite of not rehearsing the next Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday because of Tropical Storm Nicholas and the tempest related blackout at Memorial High School, the Lady Mustangs cleared Spring Woods 3-0 in their subsequent area match.

After matches against Northbrook, Stratford, Cy-Fair, and Cy Creek, Memorial will wrap up its first 50% of region play at home against Cy Ridge on Oct. 1 preceding playing every one of its seven areas rival briefly time.

That second 50% of region play starts with a rematch against Jersey Village at home on Oct. 5.

Commemoration had gone 14-14 in competition/non-locale play going toward groups, for example, safeguarding 6A state champion Seven Lakes and guarding TAPPS 6A state next in line St. Agnes, with two matches against Katy, a territorial finalist from last season.

"Our pre-locale plan is quite extreme, and I believe that is acceptable," Platt had said during the preseason. "I need to be tested, and I need us to work through things since we will have a ton of things to work through. That is the manner by which you learn and develop."
