"It's insane the manner in which sports is a microcosm of life. This group encountered a huge load of affliction coming up to this competition," lead trainer Rick Tune disclosed to KHON2 sports chief Rob DeMello. "We began Day 1 with three matches against a broadly positioned and went 1-2 in the pool. We were in a coma on Day 1. … Four groups make it out of the pool and we were No. 4 so I just continued telling the young men, 'Folks, we're a preferred group over this, we know it, we just gotta continue to accept.' I couldn't say whether they trusted it by then. … They just continued crushing, they just continued fighting and it showed what their identity is, who this gathering has consistently been. It's anything but an incredible tale about flexibility and defeating the chances. We had perhaps the littlest group in the competition. One of my old buddies who's a school mentor consistently said, 'It's anything but how large you are, it's the means by which incredible you are.' And I think we recently showed that size certainly has its place, however it never beats expertise."
