Oletha Estivalis Travels the World and Discovers Herself

By Oletha Estivalis

I had always been fascinated by the world beyond my small town, but it wasn't until I was in my early 30s that I finally took the plunge and bought a one-way ticket to Thailand. I didn't know what to expect, but I was eager to experience something new and different.

My first stop was Bangkok, a bustling city that was both exhilarating and overwhelming. I spent my days exploring the Grand Palace, visiting floating markets, and trying all the delicious street food I could get my hands on. But it was in the quieter moments, when I was sitting alone in a temple or walking through a park, that I began to feel a sense of peace and contentment that I had never experienced before.

After a few weeks in Thailand, I continued my journey to Cambodia, where I visited the ancient temples of Angkor Wat. I was amazed by the sheer size and beauty of these structures, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder as I walked through their crumbling ruins. I also had the opportunity to visit a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake, where I got a glimpse into a way of life that was so different from my own.

As I continued my travels, I visited Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar. I met so many interesting people along the way, and I learned so much about different cultures and ways of life. I also had some amazing adventures, such as trekking through the jungle, riding an elephant, and kayaking down a river.

But it was in India that I had my most transformative experience. I spent several weeks traveling around the country, and I was constantly blown away by the beauty of the landscape, the richness of the culture, and the warmth of the people. I visited the Taj Mahal, the Golden Temple, and the Ganges River. I also had the opportunity to learn about Hinduism and Buddhism, and I came to appreciate the deep spirituality of the Indian people.

By the time I returned home, I was a changed person. I had learned so much about the world and about myself. I had discovered that I am more resilient than I thought I was, and that I am capable of anything I set my mind to. I had also learned that there is so much more to life than what I had ever imagined.

I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to travel the world. It was an experience that changed my life in so many ways, and I will never forget it.

If you are thinking about traveling the world, I encourage you to do it. It is an experience that will stay with you for the rest of your life. Just be sure to keep an open mind and a sense of adventure, and be prepared to be amazed by all the wonderful things the world has to offer.
