Olympic diver: A story about more than just jumping off a platform
A few months ago, I was given the opportunity to interview Sarah Fuller, an Olympic diver for the United States. I was immediately struck by her incredible sense of humor and her passion for her sport. I was also impressed by her determination and resilience, which I learned about as she shared her inspiring story with me.
Sarah began diving when she was just seven years old. She quickly fell in love with the sport and began competing in local competitions. By the time she was 16, she was one of the top junior divers in the country.
In 2012, Sarah qualified for the Olympic Games in London. She was just 18 years old and was the youngest member of the U.S. diving team. At the Olympics, Sarah finished in 11th place in the individual 3-meter springboard event.
After the Olympics, Sarah took a break from diving to focus on her college education. She graduated from Stanford University in 2016 with a degree in psychology.
In 2017, Sarah returned to diving and began training for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. She qualified for the Olympics again and finished in 10th place in the individual 3-meter springboard event.
Sarah's story is inspiring because it shows that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. She has overcome adversity and achieved great success. She is a role model for young people everywhere.
I am grateful that I had the opportunity to interview Sarah and learn her story. She is an amazing person and I am proud to call her a friend.
I hope that Sarah's story will inspire you to follow your dreams and never give up.
