Paddy Hill

Paddy Hill, a member of the Birmingham Six, passed away at the age of 80 in December 2022.

Hill was one of six Irishmen falsely imprisoned for the 1974 Birmingham pub bombings. The six men were convicted in 1975 and each sentenced to life in prison. They spent 16 years in prison, until they were finally exonerated in 1991.

Hill was a lifelong activist for justice and peace. He campaigned for the release of other wrongly convicted prisoners and helped to set up the Birmingham Six Appeal Fund.

Hill's death is a reminder of the miscarriage of justice that occurred in the Birmingham Six case. It is also a reminder of the importance of fighting for justice, even when the odds are stacked against you.
