PGA Tour's Fall Series opens with first event on Wednesday

The PGA Tour's Fall Series kicks off on Wednesday with the 2024 season.

The PGA Tour 2024 season effectively concluded earlier this month with the Tour Championship, which crowned world No. 1 Scotty Schauffler (USA) as the FedEx Cup champion.

The top 50 players in the FedExCup standings leading up to the Tour Championship also qualified for the signature event of the 2025 season.

The Fall Series includes eight events, beginning with the ProCore Championship ($6 million purse) on Sept. 12 at Silverado Resort North Course (par-72, 7,123 yards) in Napa, California, followed by the Sanderson Farms Championship, Black Desert Championship, Shriners Children's Open and JoJo Championship in October, and the Worldwide Technology Championship, Bermuda Championship and RSM Classic in November.

The winner of a Fall Series event will be eligible for two years on Tour and will earn a spot in the 2025 Players Championship and a major, just like a regular Tour event.

The Fall Series events will allow players to compete for a spot on the Tour next season.

Players in the top 70 in the FedExCup standings heading into the Tour Championship have already earned a spot on the PGA Tour for the 2025 season, but players below that level will need to be in the top 125 in the FedExCup standings by the RSM Classic in November to earn a spot on the PGA Tour for the 2025 season unless they meet other eligibility requirements, such as winning a Tour event.

Players who are 51-60 in the FedExCup standings at the end of the Fall Series will also be eligible to play in the first two Signature events of the 2025 season.

This means that players who are not in the top 50 of the FedExCup standings by the Tour Championship will need to continue to battle for positions in the Fall Series.

Of course, players who are in the top 50 of the FedExCup standings heading into the Tour Championship are still eligible to compete in the Fall Series events.

Sahis Sigala (USA), the defending champion of this year's ProCore Championship, which was played under the name Fortinet Championship last year, will be defending his title despite being ranked No. 3 in the FedExCup standings.

The field includes last year's winner, Max Homa (USA), who won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022, as well as Wyndham Clarke.

South Korea will be represented by Bae Sang-moon, Kim Sung-hyun and Lee Kyung-hoon, with Kang Sung-hoon on the reserve list. Korean players include Lee Min-woo (AUS) and Kim Chan (USA).

Kim has good memories from last year's event, where he finished runner-up by two strokes.

Bae Sang-moon shot a 5-under 67 in Monday's qualifying round to earn a spot in the main event, which is reserved for the top four finishers.

Meanwhile, LIV Golf, backed by Saudi Arabian Capital, will host the LIV Golf Chicago ($25 million purse) in Bolingbrook, Illinois, USA, starting on July 13th.

The event will be the final individual event of the year and will crown the season champion.

Currently, Yon Rahm (Spain) leads the individual standings with 195.17 points, followed by Joaquin Niemann (Chile) with 192.20 points.

Any player ranked 49th or lower in the individual standings after the event will not be eligible to compete next season.

LIV Golf will continue its season finale in Dallas, Texas, USA, on Sept. 20-21 for the team event. 안전놀이터
