PIP claimants warning

If you receive Personal Independence Payment (PIP), you need to be aware of a recent warning from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The DWP has said that some PIP claimants could see their payments stopped before Christmas. This is because the DWP is changing the way it pays PIP. From 2024, PIP payments will be paid by a new system called ‘Automated Payment.’

If you are affected by the change, you'll need to take action before 2023 Christmas. You will need to contact the PIP team and provide them with your bank details. If you do not do this, your payments could be stopped.

The DWP has said that it will be contacting all affected claimants by the end of October 2023. However, it's important to take action as soon as possible to avoid any disruption to your payments.

You can contact the PIP team by phone on 0800 121 4433 or by textphone on 0800 121 4493. Alternatively, you can write to the PIP team at:
