Pitso Mosimane




Pitso Mosimane is a South African professional football coach and former player who is currently the head coach of Egyptian Premier League club Al Ahly. Mosimane has had a successful coaching career, winning numerous trophies with clubs in South Africa, Egypt, and internationally.

Mosimane was born in Kagiso, South Africa, on 26 July 1964. He began his playing career with Jomo Cosmos in 1982 and went on to play for several other clubs in South Africa and Greece. Mosimane retired from playing in 1995 and began his coaching career with Mamelodi Sundowns in 1996.

Mosimane coached Mamelodi Sundowns to three Premier Soccer League titles, one Nedbank Cup, and one Telkom Knockout Cup. He also led the club to the CAF Champions League final in 2006, but they lost to Al Ahly. Mosimane left Mamelodi Sundowns in 2007 and went on to coach several other clubs in South Africa and Egypt.

In 2012, Mosimane was appointed head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns for a second time. He led the club to four more Premier Soccer League titles, two Nedbank Cups, and one Telkom Knockout Cup. Mosimane also led the club to the CAF Champions League title in 2016, becoming the first South African coach to win the competition.

In 2018, Mosimane left Mamelodi Sundowns and was appointed head coach of Al Ahly. He led the club to the CAF Champions League title in 2019 and 2020, becoming the first coach to win the competition back-to-back since Mahmoud El-Gohary in 1962 and 1963.
