Post Fire

This week, our home of twenty years burned to the ground. Two days later, my husband, children, and I packed up the few belongings we could salvage from the ashes of our home and moved into a temporary rental property.

The fire was fast and unforgiving. It started in the kitchen, and by the time the fire department arrived, it was fully engulfed. We were lucky to escape with our lives and our pets. Everything else was lost.

The first few days after the fire were a blur. We were in shock and disbelief that our home was gone. We wandered around our temporary rental in a daze, trying to process what had happened. We didn't know what to do or where to go.

But after a few days, we started to come to terms with what had happened. We realized that we were lucky to be alive, and that our material possessions could be replaced. We also realized that we had each other, and that nothing else mattered.

We are still grieving the loss of our home, but we are also grateful to be alive. We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support we have received from our family, friends, and community. We know that we will rebuild, and that we will be stronger than ever before.

In the meantime, we are living one day at a time. We are focusing on the things that are important to us, and we are not letting the fire define us. We are a family, and we will get through this together.

If you have ever experienced a loss, you know that it can be devastating. But it is also important to remember that you are not alone. There are people who care about you and want to help.

If you are struggling after a loss, please reach out to a friend, family member, or counselor. There is help available, and you don't have to go through this alone.
