Pride Thessaloniki: A Celebration of Love and Acceptance

I can still remember the first time I marched in the Thessaloniki Pride parade. I was a teenager, and it was the first time I had ever seen so many people like me, all gathered together in one place. It was an incredibly powerful feeling.
I grew up in a small town in central Greece, where being anything other than heterosexual was considered taboo. I was bullied and harassed for being gay, and I learned to hide who I really was. But when I moved to Thessaloniki for university, I discovered a whole new world.
Thessaloniki is one of the most progressive cities in Greece, and the LGBTQ+ community is thriving here. The Pride parade is the highlight of the year, and it's a chance for us to come together and celebrate our diversity.
The parade is always a colorful and joyous event, with people from all walks of life coming together to show their support for LGBTQ+ rights. There are drag queens, activists, politicians, and everyday people, all united by a common goal: to create a more inclusive and accepting society.
I've been marching in the Thessaloniki Pride parade for several years now, and it's always an incredible experience. It's a chance for me to be myself, to celebrate my identity, and to show the world that I'm proud to be gay.
But Pride is about more than just celebrating. It's also about raising awareness of the challenges that LGBTQ+ people still face. In Greece, same-sex marriage is still not legal, and LGBTQ+ people are often discriminated against in employment, housing, and healthcare.
The Thessaloniki Pride parade is a reminder that we still have a long way to go, but it's also a symbol of hope. It shows that we are not alone, and that we are fighting for a more just and equitable world.
This year, the Thessaloniki Pride parade will be held on June 25th. I encourage everyone to come out and show their support for LGBTQ+ rights. It's a chance to make a difference, and to show the world that love wins.
Here are some ways you can get involved in Thessaloniki Pride:
