Purdue vs Oregon State: Boilermakers Fall to Beavers, 38-21

On a chilly September evening in Corvallis, Oregon, the Purdue Boilermakers traveled west for a non-conference clash with the Oregon State Beavers. Unfortunately for Purdue, the Beavers proved to be too much to handle, handing the Boilermakers a 38-21 defeat.
The Oregon State offense put on a dominant performance, racking up 481 yards of total offense and controlling the ball for over 30 minutes. Jam Griffin led the way for the Beavers with 137 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Ben Gulbranson completed 18 of 27 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Purdue's offense struggled to establish any rhythm, particularly in the first half. Quarterback Aidan O'Connell was sacked four times and threw two interceptions, both of which were returned for touchdowns by the Beavers. Purdue's running game also struggled, as the Beavers held them to just 72 yards on the ground.
The Boilermakers finally got on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run by Devin Mockobee in the third quarter. O'Connell also connected with TJ Sheffield for a 14-yard touchdown pass later in the quarter. However, the Beavers answered back with a touchdown of their own, putting the game out of reach.
Purdue's defense played well at times, but they were unable to generate enough pressure on Gulbranson and the Beavers' offense. Oregon State converted 10 of 17 third-down attempts and kept the Boilermakers off the field for much of the game.
The loss drops Purdue to 1-2 on the season, while Oregon State improves to 2-1. The Boilermakers will look to bounce back next week when they host the Syracuse Orange.
