Rick Tocchet




Rick Tocchet is a former professional ice hockey player and coach. He is currently the head coach of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Tocchet was born on March 4, 1964, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. He played for the Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Los Angeles Kings, Boston Bruins, and Washington Capitals during his NHL career.

Tocchet was a physical and skilled player who was known for his toughness and scoring ability. He was a member of the Flyers' Stanley Cup championship team in 1987.

After retiring as a player, Tocchet began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Phoenix Coyotes in 2002. He was promoted to head coach in 2004 and led the Coyotes to their first playoff appearance in franchise history. He was fired by the Coyotes in 2007.

Tocchet then worked as an assistant coach with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Chicago Blackhawks. He was named head coach of the Coyotes for a second time in 2017.
