A Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat has passed away.

Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso was well-known for her captivating voice and religious music.

She was the daughter of popular broadcaster and Islamic presenter, Rasaq Gawat.

Her final prayer and burial took place in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State on Tuesday at noon.

Many Nigerians have taken to social media to express their grief over her death.
