The Russia-Ukraine war has been going on for over 1,000 days and Ukraine is considering itself as a never ending conflict. The bitter and bloody conflict has squeezed the lives of thousands and uprooted millions as a result, Ukraine has faced destruction and devastation in the process.
After resisting Russia's invasion for 1000 days, Ukraine celebrated the survival of the country and expressed gratitude to its partners for their support. Several events were held to mark the day, including a concert, a speech by President Volodymyr Zelensky, and a march of veterans. In his speech, Zelensky praised the Ukrainian people for their courage and resilience during the war.
Russia has been in war with Ukraine since the year 2014 after the invasion of Crimea and the military intervention in Donbas. Since then, Russia has rampantly bombed cities in Ukraine and in the recent attack, the Russian strikes killed at least 5 civilians in the city of Kherson. Moscow claims to have taken control of the eastern Ukrainian town of Soledar, which has been the site of intense conflict in recent weeks. But Ukrainian officials insist that the fighting is still ongoing and that they have only lost partial control.
"We will never submit to the enemy. We will not rest until our country is free from invaders," Zelensky said. According to the head of Ukraine's armed forces, Russia has no chance to capture Ukraine and has lost about 129,000 troops since the start of the invasion.
