Sam Groth: The former tennis star who made the jump to politics
Sam Groth is a former Australian professional tennis player who has since transitioned to a career in politics. Groth was born in Narrandera, New South Wales, Australia, on October 19, 1987. He began playing tennis at the age of 10 and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming one of Australia's top junior players.
Groth turned professional in 2006 and went on to have a successful career on the ATP Tour. He won two ATP doubles titles and reached a career-high ranking of 53 in the world. Groth also represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
After retiring from professional tennis in 2018, Groth entered politics. He was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly in 2022 as a member of the Liberal Party. Groth is currently the Shadow Minister for Tourism, Sport and Events and the Shadow Minister for Youth.
Groth is a passionate advocate for regional Victoria and has worked to secure funding for a number of important projects in his electorate. He is also a strong supporter of the arts and has worked to promote the creative industries in Victoria.
Groth is a married father of two and lives in the Melbourne suburb of Berwick. He is a keen golfer and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
