Samoan Language Week 2024

Leai se Tautua e Leiloa

Samoan Language Week is celebrated annually in New Zealand to promote and revitalize the Samoan language. It is an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Samoa and to showcase the vitality and beauty of the Samoan language.

This year, Samoan Language Week will be held from May 27th to June 2nd. The theme for this year is "Leai se Tautua e Leiloa", which means "There is no service that cannot be done". This theme reflects the spirit of service and generosity that is so deeply embedded in Samoan culture.

There will be a variety of events held throughout the week to celebrate Samoan language and culture. These events include:

  • Language workshops
  • Cultural performances
  • Samoan language competitions
  • Samoan food and crafts stalls

I encourage everyone to participate in Samoan Language Week and to learn more about this beautiful language and culture. Leai se Tautua e Leiloa!

Personal Reflection

I am proud to be a Samoan and to be able to speak the Samoan language. My grandparents immigrated to New Zealand from Samoa in the 1970s, and they raised me to be proud of my heritage. I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned Samoan and to be able to share it with others.

Samoan Language Week is a special time for me to connect with my culture and to celebrate the beauty of the Samoan language. I encourage everyone to participate in the celebrations this year and to learn more about this rich and vibrant culture.
