Remembering the importance of Networking in Education

I use to be an IT lecturer for a small college ( Now and HOD) Needless to say that Apps is high on my hitlist of likes. I did not really want to come to the workshop because I am no longer teaching and I work in opps. -  I am glad I did though

After the workshop today - I felt inspired and I wished I had a class to expose to all of these wonderful ways of teaching them. How amazing could that lecture be giving them a chance to show me what they have learned !!!! To make the "classroom" an open space for learning and sharing. I felt that it would enrich students, entice them, ignite some much needed passion but most of all it would give them a voice, Being an IT person I know that text is SO much easier than speech and that a student could easily share his views without fear.

I truly believe that electronic communication is the future and that our students in time to come will be less inclined to communicate or learn in the age old manners that we have practiced in the past, we will lose them completely if we do not embrace that they are a different generation, wired for the internet and blogs and wiki's and all sorts of weird and immidiate forms of information and socializing.  I believe we learn better through what we know, something familiar instead of foreighn. The internet and all mobile communications is familiar to our students.

I should stop writing now, because I could write a book about this, It is my opinion that students would thrive on this.

Yip, how wish I had a class to teach using these methods and tools..... I have not felt like this in a long time
