Satur Ocampo

When it comes to the elusive art of making natural hair look effortlessly chic, Satur Ocampo is a maestro. With over two decades of experience and an impressive celebrity clientele that includes the likes of Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, and Solange Knowles, Ocampo has mastered the delicate balance between healthy hair and glamorous styling.

Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Ocampo's fascination with hair began at an early age. "I grew up watching my mother and grandmother style their hair, and I was always drawn to the intricate braids and vibrant colors they used," he recalls. "I knew I wanted to do something creative with hair, and after moving to the United States, I enrolled in beauty school to pursue my passion."

Ocampo's early years in the industry were spent honing his skills at prestigious salons in New York City and Los Angeles. However, it was during a styling session with Tracee Ellis Ross that his career took a major leap forward. "Tracee has been a muse to me," Ocampo says. "Her sense of style and her commitment to embracing her natural hair inspired me to push the boundaries of what was possible with curly and coily textures."

Through his work with Ross and other iconic women, Ocampo has developed a signature approach to hair that emphasizes individuality and embraces the inherent beauty of natural curls. "I believe that every woman should feel confident and beautiful in her own skin, and that includes her hair," he says. "My goal is to create styles that enhance natural texture, while keeping the hair healthy and strong."

Ocampo's expertise extends far beyond the salon chair. He has written articles for major hair magazines, taught master classes at industry events, and launched his own line of hair care products specifically designed for curly and coily hair. "Education is an integral part of what I do," he says. "I want to empower women to care for their hair and embrace their unique style."

Throughout his illustrious career, Ocampo has never forgotten his roots. He is passionate about giving back to the community that raised him, and he regularly travels to the Dominican Republic to offer free hair services to women in need. "I feel it's my duty to share my knowledge and skills with those who may not have the same opportunities I've had," he says.

As Ocampo reflects on his journey, he attributes his success to a combination of talent, hard work, and a deep love for his craft. "I'm grateful for every experience I've had, and I'm always excited to learn new things and push my boundaries," he says. "My passion for hair is as strong as ever, and I can't wait to see what the future holds."
