School closures

I am a seventh-grader, and I am writing an article about school closures because I have been affected by them multiple times. First, I'd like to address the elephant in the room: I miss school. I have missed a lot of school due to the pandemic. I miss learning new things and talking to my friends. I miss going to the library and eating lunch with my classmates. It's been hard to be motivated to do my schoolwork at home. I just want to go back to school and enjoy all of the special moments that come along with it.

But I know that school closures are necessary to keep everyone safe. The virus is very contagious, and it can be deadly for some people. I don't want to get sick, and I don't want my family and friends to get sick. I know that staying home is the best way to protect everyone.

I am not alone in my feelings. A recent survey found that a majority of students miss school and are worried about falling behind. The survey also found that students from low-income families are more likely to be worried about falling behind than students from high-income families. This is because students from low-income families are more likely to have less access to technology and other resources that can help them learn at home.

So, what can be done to help students who are missing school? One solution is to provide more support for students from low-income families. This could include providing them with laptops, internet access, and tutoring. Another solution is to create more opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom. This could include online learning, after-school programs, and summer camps.

I know that school closures are not easy, but I also know that they are necessary. I am hopeful that we will be able to return to school soon. In the meantime, I am doing my best to stay safe and learn as much as I can.
