Seamus O'Regan




Seamus O'Regan is a Canadian politician who has served as the Minister of Natural Resources since 2021. He is a member of the Liberal Party of Canada and has represented the riding of St. John's South—Mount Pearl in the House of Commons since 2015.

O'Regan was born in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, in 1961. He is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and a Bachelor of Laws degree. After graduating from law school, O'Regan worked as a lawyer in St. John's for several years before entering politics.

O'Regan was first elected to the House of Commons in the 2015 federal election. He was re-elected in the 2019 federal election with an increased majority.

As Minister of Natural Resources, O'Regan is responsible for overseeing Canada's natural resources sector. This includes overseeing the development of Canada's oil and gas resources, as well as Canada's renewable energy resources. O'Regan is also responsible for the management of Canada's forests and water resources.

O'Regan is a strong advocate for clean energy and climate action. He has pledged to make Canada a world leader in the fight against climate change. O'Regan has also pledged to work with Indigenous peoples to develop Canada's natural resources in a sustainable way.

O'Regan is a married father of three children. He is a lifelong resident of St. John's and a passionate advocate for his community.
