Seats

We spend a lot of time sitting down.

When we're not working, we're commuting. When we're not commuting, we're watching TV or surfing the internet. It's estimated that the average American spends about 7 hours a day sitting down.

And all that sitting is taking a toll on our health.

The dangers of sitting

  • Sitting for long periods of time can increase your risk of heart disease, diabetes, and stroke.
  • It can also lead to obesity, muscle weakness, and back pain.
  • And it can even shorten your life expectancy.

The good news is that there are a lot of things you can do to reduce the amount of time you spend sitting down.

Here are a few tips:

  • Get up and move around every 20-30 minutes.
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Park further away from your destination.
  • Walk or bike to work or school.
  • Stand up while you're talking on the phone.
  • Use a standing desk.

I know it can be tough to break the habit of sitting down, but it's worth it for your health.

So get up and move around! Your body will thank you for it.
