Seth Altman's Take on Life: Laugh, Live, Lather

A sardonic look at the daily absurdities and unexpected joys of existence by the self-proclaimed "King of Mischief"

Life's a comedy, folks. Sometimes it's a slapstick comedy, other times it's a dark comedy, and if you're really unlucky, it's a tragedy. But no matter what genre it is, you'd better be ready to laugh at it.

I've learned this the hard way, after tripping on a banana peel during a particularly intense game of backyard soccer with my kids. I mean, who needs ankles anyway? And when I say I "tripped," what I really mean is I performed a graceful swan dive straight into a pile of dog poop. The kids were laughing so hard they almost choked on their own spit, and let's just say the dog's owner wasn't too happy with me.

But you know what? I'm not going to let a little thing like that ruin my day. Why? Because it's funny! Sure, there was a lot of cursing and a frantic search for antibacterial wipes, but once I got over the initial shock, I couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

  • I mean, seriously, who gets dog poop on their shoes while playing soccer with their kids? I'm like the patron saint of dad fails.

Life is full of these moments, these little absurdities that can either drive you insane or make you embrace the madness. I choose the latter. It's not always easy, I'll admit. Sometimes, when the bills are piling up and the car won't start, it's hard to see the humor in it all. But I try to remember that life is too short to take yourself too seriously.

So, I invite you to join me, the Official King of Mischief, on this crazy journey. Let's laugh at the absurdities, embrace the unexpected, and find joy in the strangest of places. Because life is too short to cry over spilled milk—unless it lands on your shoes. Then it's just plain comical.
