Shele Gets Lost in a World of Wonder
By Shele Rothenbucher
My childhood dream of seeing the world became a reality when I was 19. A friend and I backpacked through Europe for three months. I returned home with a new perspective, and a love for travel that would last a lifetime.
After backpacking, I moved to New York City to pursue my career. But I never forgot my dream of seeing the world. I saved my money and took every opportunity to travel. I've been to over 50 countries on six continents.
Each trip has been a unique and unforgettable experience. I've hiked through the Amazon rainforest, climbed mountains in the Himalayas, and swum with sharks in the Great Barrier Reef. I've met people from all walks of life, and learned about different cultures and religions.
Travel has taught me so much about myself and the world. It's shown me that the world is a beautiful and diverse place. It's also taught me that people are more alike than they are different.
I'm grateful for the opportunity to have traveled the world. It's made me a more open-minded, compassionate, and understanding person.
My most memorable travel experience
One of my most memorable travel experiences was when I went to India for the first time. I was immediately struck by the country's vibrant colors and bustling cities. I spent a week traveling around the Golden Triangle, visiting Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur.
In Delhi, I visited the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort is a massive complex of red sandstone buildings that was built in the 17th century. I also visited the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. The mosque is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture.
In Agra, I visited the Taj Mahal, one of the most famous buildings in the world. The Taj Mahal was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The mausoleum is made of white marble, and it is decorated with intricate carvings.
In Jaipur, I visited the Amber Fort, a hilltop fortress that was built in the 16th century. The fort is a beautiful example of Rajput architecture. I also visited the City Palace, a large complex of palaces and gardens that was built in the 18th century.
My trip to India was an amazing experience. I saw some of the most beautiful buildings in the world, and I learned a lot about Indian culture and history.

- Pack light. You don't want to carry around a heavy backpack or suitcase.
- Be open-minded. Don't be afraid to try new things, and meet new people.
