When the new chapter starts, it will offer a professional development program for all members. As part of that, we are currently looking for SigEp alumni volunteers who are willing to help mentor our new brotherhood. The hope is to pair students in specific majors with alumni working in those fields to help encourage their professional development. Sign up here! In additional to volunteering, here is a way for you to help Florida Alpha recolonize at the University of Florida by donating to Pride in Our Past, Foundation for the Future: The Campaign for Florida Alpha

Here's the minimum expected if you are willing to volunteer:

1) Have two, 30 minute mentoring sessions with your paired student. These can be via phone, video chat or in-person. In person is NOT required though.
2) Be willing to have some email follow up with the student over the course of the year.

Hopefully the mentoring will go well beyond the minimum, and include additional mentoring, resume/interview feedback, and help with internships and full time jobs.

The job marketplace is more competitive today than it has every been.  To get the best jobs, it is no longer sufficient to just have the highest grade point average.  Top employers are looking for much more today.  The people who get the best jobs and move up quickly in their chosen field are those who not only have demonstrated academic excellence, but also have strengths in leadership, communication and social skills.

Three of the areas focused on in our Balanced Man Program are “Personal”, “Professional” and “Leadership” development.  Our alumni will work with our undergraduates to provide the programming in all of these areas.  The BMP will be the means of applying these programs to each individual’s needs through the four self-paced challenges that span throughout the college career.

The Florida Alpha Undergraduate Development program strives to  ensure that our undergraduate members graduate with a job or plans for post-graduate education.  The program combines resources from UF, Sig Ep specific programming and alumni engagement.  Throughout the Balanced Man journey, there are development components that will guide the undergraduate to their optimal post-graduate success.

Focusing on 3 main areas of development:
