Sky Sports

Sky Sports is a British pay-TV sports channel owned and operated by Comcast through its subsidiary Sky Group. It is the largest sports broadcaster in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and broadcasts a wide range of sports, including football, cricket, rugby, golf, tennis, and boxing.

Sky Sports was launched in 1989 as a joint venture between British Satellite Broadcasting (BSB) and Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. BSB was a satellite television service that had been launched in 1986, but was struggling financially. News Corporation was a media conglomerate that owned a number of newspapers and television stations around the world.

The launch of Sky Sports was a major success, and it quickly became the most popular sports channel in the UK. In 1990, BSB merged with Sky Television, a rival satellite television service that had been launched in 1988. The merger created British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), which became the sole owner of Sky Sports.

Sky Sports has continued to grow and expand over the years. In 1996, it launched its first digital channel, Sky Sports 2. In 2006, it launched its first high-definition channel, Sky Sports HD. And in 2012, it launched its first 3D channel, Sky Sports 3D.

Today, Sky Sports is one of the most popular and respected sports broadcasters in the world. It broadcasts a wide range of sports from around the world, and its coverage is often considered to be the best in the business.
