Something Beautiful
My most rememberable moment in nature was the time I went to the lake with someone very special to me. I had just gotten off work at 11pm on a Friday in the middle of July. I went home and got changed. I put on black short shorts, a green long sleeve shirt and my favorite blue and green sandals. I waited for my favorite person in the world to come pick me up. Around midnight he pulled up to my house ready to go on our adventure. He kept where we were going a surprise. The car ride took about 40 minutes to get to where we were going.
The car ride was filled with jokes and laughter. This made the 40 minutes go by quickly, as my time with him always does. When we got to the place I was confused. He had parked in the parking lot of a church. We were the only car in the parking lot on this late summer night. I looked at him confused and he just said trust me I know the prefect place. We got out of the car and started to walk through the parking lot of the church. He leads me through the parking lot to a private road. There are houses to the left of the road and trees to right. He starts talking to me about all the people that live in the houses like he had known them his whole life. We walked down this road for a few minutes.
He then takes my hand my hand and leads me into the woods. It was so dark you couldn’t see the dirt trail. The trees where hiding any light provided by the moon. As we walked, the darkness was filled with giggles and laughter. I couldn’t be happier then this moment. When we get to the end of the trail the darkness disappears. The moonlight bouncing off the lake makes it bight outside again. The dirt trail I was just on led us to a dock on lake Acworth.
It was a beautiful night. It was the perfect summer night every Georgian dream of. It was 70 degrees, clear skies and clam outside. The only thing you could hear were the crickets and cicadas chirping. The tide was as high as the dock since we had just gotten rain the previous few days. We sat at the edge of the dock and put our feet in the water. The water was still warm.
Here we talked about how he had found this spot and how special it was to him. This eventually led us to start joking around and splashing each other with water. We didn’t have any towels so him and I didn’t want to get too soaked in our water fight. After the water fight was over, he offered me his hand to help pull me up off the dock. I was confused on where we were going.
Once I was on my feet, he pulled me close to him and we started dancing in the moonlight. I had never slow danced with anyone before this moment. There was no music just the soft sounds the world was creating around us. This moment in time everything was perfect. It was something straight out of a movie. I was the luckiest girl in the world to be there in that moment.
After this we laid down next to each other and looked at the stars. We talked about astrology and tried to find the different constellations. It was super interesting when we saw bats flying up above us. I’ve never seen bats like that in person. It started to get chilly outside, when he noticed that I was getting cold he pulled me over to him and I laid my head on his chest and slowly drifted into sleep as he talked about his family. We fell asleep on the dock for about an hour.
Once we woke up it was time for us to go home. It was getting late and we both had to work the next day. He drove me home while holding my hand. I fell asleep in the car. When we got to my house he woke me with a kiss on the cheek. I collected my things and kissed him goodnight. I had to sneak into my house so my mother didn’t see me come in. She was already up getting ready for work. I got into my room unnoticed that I had ever left in the first place. I fell asleep with a smile on my face. This had to have been one of the best nights of my life.
