Southwood Church Groups on Music and Dance Performance

Music and Dance Performance at Southwood: Amazing Grace

1 April 2012 at 7pm

Friends of Southwood Infants (FSIS) and Southwood Church present a Fundraising Music and Dance Performance

Southwood Church and FSIS (Friends of Southwood Infants School) are pleased to announce a performance at Southwood Community Centre of sacred music performed by over 30 extremely talented musicians and singers from the Churches Together In Cove and including dance pieces from children and young people of the Jacaranda Ballet School, in aid of our Infant School and the work of our local church at Southwood.

The performance , entitled ‘Amazing Grace’, is intended to be a relaxing hour and a half for parents & grandparents, and junior school age children upwards if they would like to attend.

Doors will open at 7pm for tea, coffee and cakes by candlelight, followed by the performance beginning at 7:30pm and lasting for one hour. Tickets are priced at £6  for adults and £3 for children which includes the refreshments, the performance and a printed programme which will explain each of the items of music/dance in turn -- which range from classical composers such as Handel (the Hallelujah Chorus), Johann Sebastian Bach and Vivaldi, to more modern pieces by composers including Adrian Snell, Zbigniew Preisner and Jimmy Owens.

We were aware that visibility for the Maasai performance, which some of you may have attended in October, was an issue, so we will be arranging the community centre and the seating in a creative way such that everyone attending will be able to see the performance much better -- this also means that tickets will be limited, so please buy early (many who tried to buy tickets for the Maasai warrior event were disappointed to find it had sold out). We will also be using stage lighting and coloured floodlights as well as candles to make it a great atmosphere at the community centre.

The church is happy to simply cover costs, but we would like to raise between £300 and £400 for the school through ticket sales.

Yours

Sarah Christman (Chair, FSIS)
