Stations of the Cross

It's Good Friday. The day we remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The day we reflect on his suffering and death on the cross.

I've always found the Stations of the Cross to be a powerful devotional practice. It's a way to meditate on the events of Jesus' last day and to experience, in a small way, what he went through.

There are 14 stations in the Stations of the Cross. Each station represents a different event from Jesus' journey to Calvary and his crucifixion.

  • The first station is where Jesus is condemned to death.
  • The second station is where he takes up his cross.
  • The third station is where he falls for the first time.
  • The fourth station is where he meets his mother.
  • The fifth station is where Simon of Cyrene helps him carry his cross.
  • The sixth station is where he wipes the face of Veronica.
  • The seventh station is where he falls for the second time.
  • The eighth station is where he meets the women of Jerusalem.
  • The ninth station is where he falls for the third time.
  • The tenth station is where he is crucified.
  • The eleventh station is where he dies on the cross.
  • The twelfth station is where he is taken down from the cross.
  • The thirteenth station is where he is laid in the tomb.
  • The fourteenth station is where he rises from the dead.

As I walk through the Stations of the Cross, I try to imagine what it must have been like for Jesus. I try to feel his pain and his suffering. I try to understand his love for us, and his willingness to die for our sins.

The Stations of the Cross is a powerful reminder of the love of God. It's a reminder that Jesus Christ died for us, so that we might have eternal life. It's a reminder that we are never alone, and that God is always with us.
