14″ laptops are a lot more common outside the www.techstalky.com gaming laptop sphere and are valuable for their smaller size and lower weight. For gaming laptops, a larger display is usually preferable, for the extra focus on detail and immersiveness. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 tries to strike that balance. The 14″ display still features an FHD IPS panel, which will give you a sharp and vibrant color display. The refresh rate is dropped to 120Hz, not a difference the naked eye will typically notice from 144Hz, in an effort to improve battery life.

Portability is virtually the only reason to drop to 14″ on a gaming laptop, and fortunately, the Zephyrus G14 delivers on that front. It’s very slim at 0.7 inches, and only 12.8 inches by 8.7 inches, meaning it can be easily stowed in most bags, including some bike bags. It only weighs 3.5 pounds which is the lightest you’re going to get without dropping to a netbook.
ASUS has made excellent use of the “step back a generation” tactic to deliver an excellent price to performance ratio on the CPU. This laptop features a Ryzen 9 4900HS, one of the better laptop processors currently available, with 8 cores and up to a 4.3 GHz clock rate.
That’s going to deliver phenomenal framerates, lightning-quick response times, and plenty of capacity for multi-tasking, streaming, or even some light video editing. Moving along, the GPU is an RTX 2060, another previous-gen component, but one that still works well. In reviewing larger laptops, we’ve made note of the (relatively) limited capacity of the 2060, which is still true but is likely to not be as noticeable on a smaller screen, making this a good fit, and good performance for the money.
