Terry McLaurin: The Underrated Star Wide Receiver

Anyone who has seen Terry McLaurin play knows he's a special talent, but for some reason, his name isn't mentioned alongside the elite receivers in the NFL. According to stats website Pro Football Reference, McLaurin is ranked 59th among wide receivers for this upcoming season.
That's right, the same receiver who tied an NFL record for most receiving yards through the first two seasons of a player's career is only considered the 59th best at his position. McLaurin is a top-15 receiver in the NFL, and it's time he starts getting the recognition he deserves.
McLaurin has been a model of consistency since entering the NFL in 2019. He has recorded at least 65 receptions, 870 receiving yards, and five touchdowns in each of his first three seasons. He has also shown a knack for the big play, averaging over 15 yards per reception in his career.
In 2021, McLaurin took his game to another level. He led the NFL with 1,053 receiving yards on 77 receptions and five touchdowns. He also had seven games with over 100 receiving yards, which was the second-most in the league.
Despite his impressive production, McLaurin still doesn't get the same level of respect as other receivers around the league. Part of the reason for this is likely due to the fact that he plays for the Washington Commanders.
The Commanders have been one of the worst teams in the NFL in recent years, and McLaurin hasn't had the benefit of playing with a top-tier quarterback. However, even when he's not getting the best passes from his quarterback, McLaurin still manages to produce.
For example, McLaurin had over 1,000 receiving yards in 2021 despite playing with three different starting quarterbacks. He also had over 800 receiving yards in 2020 despite playing with Dwayne Haskins, who was one of the worst quarterbacks in the league.
McLaurin is a special talent, and it's time he starts getting the recognition he deserves. He's one of the most productive receivers in the NFL, and he's still only 27 years old. If he can continue to produce at a high level, there's no reason why he can't be considered one of the best receivers in the NFL.
