Texas A&M Basketball: A Quietly Dominant Force

If you're a casual college basketball fan, the Texas A&M Aggies might not be on your radar. They're not the flashiest team, they don't have a bunch of five-star recruits, and they don't often make deep runs in the NCAA Tournament.
But don't let that fool you. This is a team that has been quietly dominant in the SEC for the past few years.
The Buzz Williams Era
Much of the Aggies' success can be attributed to head coach Buzz Williams. Williams is a no-nonsense coach who knows how to get the most out of his players. He's also a master recruiter, and he's brought in some talented players to College Station.
Under Williams' leadership, the Aggies have won three SEC regular season championships and one SEC Tournament championship. They've also made two NCAA Tournament appearances, and they came within one game of the Sweet Sixteen in 2021.
The Ascendance of Tyrece Radford
One of the biggest reasons for the Aggies' success has been the play of guard Tyrece Radford. Radford is a 6'2" shooting guard who can do it all. He can score, rebound, and defend at a high level.
In the 2021-22 season, Radford led the Aggies in scoring (17.1 points per game), rebounding (7.9 rebounds per game), and steals (2.1 steals per game), and he was named to the All-SEC First Team.
A Deep and Talented Roster
Radford is the Aggies' best player, but he's not the only one who can score. Forward Henry Coleman III is a double-double machine, averaging 14.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game last season. And guard Quenton Jackson is a sharpshooter who hit 44.2% of his three-pointers last season.
Big Things on the Horizon
The Aggies are poised to make another run at the SEC title this season. They return all five starters from last season's team, and they've added some talented freshmen to the mix too.
  • They are going to build on their success and make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament this year.
  • So don't sleep on the Texas A&M Aggies. They're a team that's capable of great things. They are itching to make a statement, and they're hungry for success.
  • So keep an eye on them this season. They just might surprise you.
