The Dome of the Rock is an Islamic shrine that sits upon the highest point in Old Jerusalem. The Dome of the Rock is in its core one of the oldest examples of Islamic architecture as it is one of the oldest buildings in the area built in the seventh century CE. This shrine houses a mix of religious beliefs. The rock that sits in the center of The Dome is believed to have been the location of Mohammad's night journey for Islamics, the location where Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his son Isaac for Judeo Christians, and the location of the creation of Adam (and the world) for Judeism.
