Bishop Hanzi Flick is expressing confidence in revitalizing the Ordination Party.
“Flick is confident that the party can return to the highest level under him,” according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
Since Lionel Messi's great achievements, there have been many “second Messi's” in the world. Talented players from every continent, including the most famous of them all, Bojan Krkic, have been labeled the next Messi.
Most of these second Messi's failed. However, there was one who was recognized as Messi's 'legitimate' successor. The main character is Pati from Barcelona. After rising through the ranks at La Masia, Pati established himself as a Barcelona starter at the age of 17 and was touted as Messi"s successor.
His emergence has been nothing short of sensational. After making his debut in the 2019-20 season, Pati scored eight goals and provided one assist in 33 appearances, including cup competitions, and also made his presence felt in the UEFA Champions League (UCL). In 2020-21, he inherited Messi's number 10, despite a long-term injury that kept him out of action.
But then he fell into a slump. Injuries took their toll. Even in the 2021-22 season, Pati barely played after failing to regain his fitness. Six goals and one assist in 15 games, including cup competitions. In total, he played less than 30 games in both seasons. His position was greatly reduced. In 2022-23, he stayed relatively healthy and played 51 games, but his performance dropped significantly. His offensive points totaled just 10 goals and four assists.
He left the team for the 2023-24 season. His destination was Brighton in the Premier League (PL). At Brighton, he showed signs of resurgence. However, his performances didn't live up to the title of the next Messi. His nagging injuries didn"t improve.
After his loan spell, Pati returned to Barcelona. However, his future remained unclear. There were constant transfer rumors. However, Flick had faith in him. As Mundo Deportivo reports, “Jorge Mendes has revealed that he will not accept any offers for Pati. The Barcelona director spoke with the player for an hour and told him that both the player and the club have trust. “It all depends on Pati. He has to work hard,” he said.
