The Jetty

The sun beat down on my face, relentless in its summer fury. I walked slowly down the jetty towards the end. The air was thick with the scent of salt and seaweed. The water was a deep, clear blue, and I could see the fish swimming beneath the surface.

I sat down on the end of the jetty and let my feet dangle in the water. I closed my eyes and breathed in the fresh air. The sound of the waves crashing against the jetty was soothing. I felt completely at peace.

I opened my eyes and looked out at the horizon. The sky was a clear blue, and the only clouds in sight were a few small white ones that drifted lazily by. I could see the distant coastline for miles in either direction.

I got up and walked to the edge of the jetty. I looked down at the water below. It was so clear that I could see the bottom. I could even see the small fish that were swimming around.

I took a deep breath and jumped into the water. The water was cold but refreshing. I swam out a little way from the jetty and then floated on my back. I looked up at the sky and watched the clouds drift by.

I closed my eyes and listened to the sound of the waves. I felt completely at peace. I could have stayed there forever.

Eventually, I opened my eyes and swam back to the jetty. I climbed out of the water and sat down on the end. I looked out at the horizon and watched the sunset. The sky was a beautiful orange and purple, and the clouds were illuminated with a warm glow.

I sat there for a long time, just watching the sunset. I felt completely at peace. I was grateful for the beauty of the moment, and I knew that I would never forget it.
