1. Check if your Laptop needs more memory

Operating on a slow laptop does not only mean slow productivity, it can also lead to instability. If you are a multi tasker, it can be frustrating to work on a laptop which does not immediately respond when clicked.

You can simply check your laptop’s performance through the Task Manager. Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete for windows. Then, in Task Manager's performance tab, see how much memory is being used out of the total available. You'll also see how many physical memory slots are in use and, thus, how many are available for adding more memory.

2. Choose the Right RAM

There are more than thousands of available RAM components especially in the gray market. If you are into lay-outing and editing, a higher capacity RAM is needed. Although newer laptops have 4G capacity RAM, a lot of artists and graphics editor still need more capability than that. Depending on your need and the tasks you will be doing in your laptop, the RAM should be able to adhere to your needs.

3. Install it on your Own

Once you have gotten the right RAM, you can now install it for yourself. Just make sure that you have unplugged your laptop and follow warning precautions when dismantling your laptop parts. Chances are any installed memory will be taking the upper slot, so you'll need to remove it and put it in the other bank so you have space for your added memory.
