Five eight-year-old first class soccer players from Philadelphia's The SWAG program are heading out to Orlando, FL, to contend in the 3x3 National Championships at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex from Thursday, July 28 through Sunday, July 31.
Riley Griffith and Mohammed Mayah, both of Southwest Philadelphia, Eli Dixon of Hamilton, NJ, Marcus Szabo of Phoenixville, PA, and Thomas Spangler who as of late moved to Jacksonville, FL, will go with their mentor Ryan Griffith, Riley's dad, and contend in the Under 8 (2014) National Championship competition. Last year, Griffith, Dixon, and Spangler contended and brought home the National Championship.
"These five world class players were recognized through our cycle as they shown excellent abilities, and we are glad they will address The SWAG, alongside the city of Philadelphia, in the National 3x3 Championships," said Ryan Griffith. "There are numerous dynamite youthful competitors who take part in The SWAG and we anticipate the day when a greater amount of our rivals will address us in later competitions across the U.S."
The SWAG arrives at north of 2,000 ghetto small kids each year, and is intended to assist with empowering the city's most weak youth to foster an enthusiasm for soccer and lead them on a fruitful way to better ways of life, instructive open doors and university grants.
The SWAG sent off as a pilot in late 2018 to help recognize, support, and put resources into ability from Philadelphia, making nearby hotshots from Philadelphia's most under-resourced regions by offering early openness to the game with proficient preparation.
The SWAG expects new interest levels in soccer across the Philadelphia district to escalate with Philadelphia as of late being granted a 2026 World Cup match.
