With the Bears, Ogden made all-gathering multiple times, all-state multiple times, and twice being named to prepare every American group. He won a Junior Olympics gold decoration with the North group. Ogden likewise made all-state twice in ball and put second in a public dunking contest. 

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound left-hander at first dedicated to the University of Oklahoma to play the two games. 

"However, the Twins drafted me in the third round, and coordinated with what we expected to sign," he said, "so off I went to Florida rather for master ball."
