HOLDREGE — The Don Sjogren Community YMCA in Holdrege served almost 1,600 free suppers to assist with supporting children this late spring at the YMCA Kids Café.
YMCA CEO Riley Gruntorad revealed that 1,581 suppers were ready and served to youngsters in June and July.
"The YMCA Kids Café has been feeding kids for over 10 years, and we are pleased to proceed with this significant program to help nearby families," Gruntorad said.
The dinners were served from the First Presbyterian Church, where children got an opportunity to eat and afterward visit with companions and volunteers.

"We are happy to have had the chance to contact the existences of such countless children and families through this program," Gruntorad said. "We are thankful to our supporters, staff and volunteers who got this going.
