Bison, N.Y. — An occasion was held Friday night at the Johnnie B. Wiley Sports Pavilion to assist with fund-raising for sickle cell mindfulness.
The occasion was a dedication birthday celebration to respect Jasmine Parker. She lost her battle with sickle cell infection recently at 28 years of age.
Coordinators say they got a ton of help from the local area to get this pledge drive going.
"Sickle cell is right up there with disease you know. It's a deep rooted sickness individuals are fighting consistently," said Antonio Parker, Jasmine's sibling.
"You know it's a handicap, it's one that you don't have the foggiest idea. Obviously they're not in a wheelchair, they're not on braces, they're not missing an appendage. However, similar to they're in steady agony constantly and that gets pushed to the side since you might look sound yet no doubt about it."
There was a base gift of $15 to enter the occasion, which included food, music and a pool.
A portion of the returns procured from the occasion are going to "My Three Sicklers" a charitable association and the rest is being given to a pediatric sickle cell patient at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.
