The Tigers got the better of the An's in the primary round of the twin bill, 6-0. Detroit dumped on Oakland with 12 hits, including a performance grand slam from Jonathan Schoop. The second baseman completed 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Candelario was 4-for-5 with a twofold and three RBI in the success. Willi Castro was 3-for-4 and crossed the plate once.
