Men's College Basketball: No. 17 SCC Faces Big Challenge Tuesday

Southeastern Community College's men's ball group moved to its eighth consecutive success without a loss Saturday evening, however a greater test is standing by.

The seventeenth positioned Blackhawks travel to Park Hills, Missouri, Tuesday to confront No. 23 Mineral Area College. Last year, the Cardinals won their initial 24 games, then, at that point, tumbled to Cowley County 105-101 in the Elite 8 of the public competition at Hutchinson, Kansas. 사설토토

Mineral Area began this season at 2-3, however SCC lead trainer Lorenzo Watkins isn't tricked by that record. Two of the Cardinals' misfortunes were to second-positioned John A. Logan College.

"They're very acceptable," Watkins said of Mineral Area. "They played John Logan who's No. 2 in the country at this moment and had around a four-or five-point game the two games. They're acceptable. They were No. 1 in the country last year and got crushed, lost in the elimination round game at the public competition. I accept they have seven or eight of their 12 people back, so this is likely going to be our hardest challenge modern at the present time."

Saturday evening, the Blackhawks opened their Iowa Community College Athletic Conference season with a 106-68 success over Northeast in Loren Walker Arena. Six Blackhawks scored in twofold figures and 11 of the 12 who played scored.

SCC had the hot hands, sinking 42 of 75 shots from the field for 56%. Upper east sank only 23 of 62 for 37 percent.

"It was acceptable," Watkins said, "Falling off a street win, we had a decent success at Highland on Thursday night, then, at that point, we needed to pivot Friday to plan (for Northeast). There were a great deal of things continuing and our folks reacted.

"It was extraordinary to get our different folks in the game," Watkins said, "yet presently we have another speedy turnaround. We must get the film on (Sunday), practice Monday and travel Monday and play Tuesday. It's a four and a half hour drive down to Mineral Area. It's south of St. Louis. It just gets harder, yet our folks worked effectively this evening. I'm pleased with them. We must keep on improving."

Upper east started to lead the pack multiple times in the early-going. Jesiah West's dunk on a putback gave SCC a 15-13 edge and the Blackhawks never followed again. SCC continued to expand on the lead and held a 59-32 pad at halftime.

Upper east cut into that lead from the get-go in the subsequent quarter, managing it to a 23-point edge at 75-52 on Evan Decker's turnaround. It was a 22-point hole at 79-57 on Emaniel Alexande's 3-pointer. The Blackhawks let Northeast draw no nearer.

Gavin Kies' third 3-pointer of the game put SCC over the course of the century mark at 102-66 with 1:18 left to play.

The Blackhawks' slight pass from the get-go in the subsequent half was "the development level," Watkins said. "A great deal of it was basically not getting back experiencing significant change. You can't quit playing. And afterward all of abrupt we need to begin bombarding threes.

"Nothing changes," Watkins said. "Get the ball switched. It doesn't matter to me what protection the other group's playing, get it switched. We will enter the paint. We will get inside before we begin lifting bounce shots. Around 10 or 11 belongings, they gave pursue and out of nowhere we began turning the ball once again. Those are the things you can't have occur. You can't turn it on and off and hope to beat extraordinary groups."

West's twofold drove the field. He sank 10 of 13 shots from the field for 20 focuses and got 14 bounce back. Railer Vargas-Hernandez scored 11 focuses and Koby Isaac had 10. Three Blackhawks fell off the seat to score in twofold figures. Jakada Stone was 6-for-8 from the field for 15 focuses. Stephon McGill and Manny Austin scored 10 focuses each.
