It took Jefferson young ladies b-ball group 14 games to get its first triumph last season.

That was the main taste of triumph for the Bears in 2020-21.

Jefferson ate early this year, opening the season with a 48-41 triumph over Summerfield Tuesday night.

"One of the young ladies said to me, 'Mentor, we were right around 3/4 of the way in before we got our first success last year.' I said, 'It feels better, doesn't it?'" Jefferson mentor Bryan Parran said. "I'm glad for the children. They had an incredible exertion this evening."

The triumph was made better by fixing a Summerfield group that exceptional to the Division 4 state elimination rounds last season.

"We beat a decent group," Parran said. "(Mentor Mickey Moody) works effectively with those children."

Jefferson shot the ball well in the main half, assembling a 32-13 lead at halftime.

"Jefferson shot lights out in the principal half," Moody said. "They needed to have shot 80% or better from the floor. They just played a remarkable first half and took it right to us. I provide them with a ton of credit around evening time, they needed the game more than we."

Sydney Masserant caused every last bit of her harm in the main quarter to get Jefferson moving. She got done with three 3-pointers and 10 focuses. Kirsten Vanisacker drove the Bears with 12 focuses, remembering 9 for the primary half.

Summerfield bobbed back in the subsequent half, outscoring Jefferson 28-16 after the interlude.

"We came out level and shot 0-for-15 from the 3-point line in the primary half. We just played a truly lethargic portion of ball," Moody said. "In the subsequent half, we played more diligently and figured out how to get the game decent."
