Twisting was anything but a prompt hit with Tara and Tabitha Peterson, a big part of the group that will start its mission for Team USA's first Olympic gold decoration this week in Beijing. The St. Paul Curling Club wasn't their optimal spot to begin their Saturdays.

"In reality," Tara said, "my sister and I abhorred it from the get go."

However, not for a really long time.

"The lesser program was on Saturday mornings, and we would have rather not get up, didn't have any desire to rise and shine almost immediately a Saturday morning and our companions didn't get it done," Tara said. "We were somewhat hauled down there."

That is not how guardians Shel Peterson and Gaye Skelly Peterson recall it, yet what's the distinction? It ended up being a great, and groundbreaking, choice. Tabitha, 32, is skipping Team USA in her second Olympic Games; Tara, 30, is the lead in her first.

"It didn't take long for them to begin to like it," Shel said for this present week while driving with Gaye from Florida to Arizona in their SUV. "They met companions and they got in some little club groups at St. Paul and they began to like it rapidly, I need to say."

In some sense.

"What we preferred the best was at halftime; we went higher up and we had snacks," Tara said prior to leaving for Beijing by means of Los Angeles. "They had doughnuts, they had squeezed orange. That was our main thing."
