A DISABLED lady who was let to bite the dust be in her room "worshiped" her mom, her cousin said.

Elaine Clarke admitted to killing Debbie Leitch, who had Down's Syndrome. She passed on from extreme weakening and disregard.

Clarke was indicted for gross careless murder and the appointed authority said she deserted the 24-year-old "to kick the bucket in torment, without sustenance in the most ridiculously terrible environmental factors".

A posthumous assessment observed Debbie had a broad scabies skin contamination.

The family, who recently lived in Hastings, had been notable to social administrations in East Sussex and there were worries about Clarke's nurturing abilities and those of different accomplices, John Harrison QC said.

Clarke, who got week after week benefit installments of £215 to really focus on Debbie, confessed to net carelessness murder after she at first denied the offense.

The 49-year-old was imprisoned for a very long time and seven months.

In a casualty sway proclamation, Debbie's cousin Sammy Muggridge said: "The passing of Debbie has profoundly affected all of us. It just aggravates it that it might have been forestalled.

"She venerated her mom. All she needed was the adoration and love of her mom.

"Elaine has forever been a sluggish and self centered mother. She would purchase purses and shoes however wouldn't get up."

Ms Muggridge uncovered that the last time she saw Debbie in her room, the "smell of death" inside would "live with me for eternity".

She added: "It was like something out of a thriller. Debbie didn't have a daily existence. It was looted by the one individual who ought to have really focused on her."

In the wake of moving from Hastings to Leeds, Debbie weighed 10st 1lb. At the hour of her demise, she weighed 3st 10lb, the court heard.

Mr Harrison said Debbie was subject to mother-of-four Clarke, who was enrolled and paid as her carer as every one of her kids had learning or actual troubles.

In 2014, the family moved from Hastings to Leeds to reside with Clarke's new beau Robert Bruce and where Debbie utilized day care administrations.

The family moved again in August 2016 to Garden Terrace in Blackpool, yet Debbie didn't get to any day care exercises.

During a visit in April 2019, Debbie's cousin went dependent upon her room and saw her crouched on her bed.

She was sobbing for her mom saying her feet were sore, her hair seemed to have been hacked off and her skin was red and broken, Mr Harrison told Preston Crown Court.

Tim Storrie QC, protecting, said Clarke had a "perplexing family foundation", with a truly oppressive dad to her and a mother who had significant wellbeing challenges.
