"I had my first race when I was 4," Rouse said. "I recollect my father taking me to races with him at Eddyville and Cordova (Illinois). Every one of his siblings got their children into go-kart dashing, sothat's the place where everything began for me."
Animate was a whiz. He came out on top for six track titles at Shimek Speedway in southeastern Iowa before that track shut when he was 13.

Energize moved gradually up through the positions at 34 Raceway, a ⅜-mile oval soil track outside of Burlington, and was a star in adjusted lites. Before long, he advanced toward 305-cubic-inch-motor run vehicles.
"The more established I got, the more I began figuring hustling could be my profession," Rouse says now. "I felt like God had given me a unique ability for it."
Heidi Brown was two years in front of Rouse in school. Their lives were comparative - they partook in similar interests in dashing, school and sports, have like characters and shared a large number of similar companions - and the pair turned out to be dearest companions.
"There was a ton of pity there for some time in Devon's eyes since he was unable to act naturally," Brown said. "He and I spent 1,000,000 years together, and we've done a wide range of everything. I felt luckier in light of the fact that I could be me, and I could do anything I needed. I was alright with what My identity was. … There was a piece of him that wasn't free. It was practically similar to there was a piece of him that was living in something that wasn't accurate."
Brown was probably Rouse's most prominent fan. She shared his fantasy that he would turn into an extraordinary NASCAR driver one day, very much like his childhood symbol, Jeff Gordon. They voyaged finished for Rouse's races.
As it were, his joy from progress on the track turned into her bliss.
"It is the most compensating feeling in the entire world," Brown said. "I feel like a pleased kin as it were."
Furthermore his bitterness was likewise something she perceived generally very well.
